An authoritative source of the automobile industry told the China Securities News that in addition to energy conservation and new energy vehicle industry planning, encouraging automobile exports will be an important focus of automobile industry policy next year.
Exports account for only 4% of output
From January to November, total car sales rose 2.6 per cent year-on-year to 16.816 million units, with passenger vehicles up 5.3 per cent and commercial vehicle sales down 5.9 per cent, according to the China Automobile Association. In the same period, automobile exports totaled 758300, an increase of 274900 over the same period last year, and contributed 65.43 percent to the growth of domestic cars in the same period.
Although automobile exports accounted for 4% of output in 2011, up from 3% in 2010, the current export situation of China's automobile industry is not good, the overall dispersion, and the scale of output value is not large.
According to the statistical caliber of the Ministry of Commerce, there are 500 automobile exporters in China in 2010, and the export volume of 580000 vehicles is distributed in 210 countries and regions around the world. At present, the automakers with the top export volume are Chery, Changan, Great Wall, Lifan and so on.
SAIC, which ranks first in the domestic auto industry, is expected to sell more than 4 million vehicles this year, but its exports are almost negligible. "in the period of slow growth of the automobile industry in the next few years, the export market, which did not attach importance to the original emphasis and actual development efforts, will be paid attention to in the future." SAIC related sources told the China Securities News reporter.
Export development plan to be released
In July this year, the Ministry of Commerce and other 11 ministries and commissions jointly issued the opinions on promoting the sustained and healthy Development of the Export of Mechanical and Electrical products during the 12th five-year Plan period. there are three aspects related to the automobile industry: encouraging 100 pioneer enterprises in 25 key industries to establish and improve overseas marketing networks and after-sales service systems; continue to do a good job in the construction of export bases for cars and spare parts; and improve measures for standardizing the export order of automobiles and motorcycles.
Industry insiders expect that in accordance with the above requirements, the relevant state ministries and commissions will formulate and issue the Automobile Industry Export Development Plan in 2012, revise the measures for standardizing the Management of Automobile Export order, and implement the development goals set out in the opinions.
Judging from this year's car sales data, it is unrealistic for China's automobile industry to rely on exports to save it in the future, but with only about 4% of exports at present, there is still considerable room for automobile exports to be tapped.
